40th Anniversary of Los Angeles Marathon
HELLO LOS ANGELES.
I’m so glad that I get to run a high-energy race after my experience at Ventura two weeks ago. Man, that was a doozy.
Read my Ventura Marathon post-race recap here.
This will be my third LAM. LA is still my favorite marathon. I think Marine Corps is my second favorite. I really like the bigger races because they’re so high energy. And, LA is my favorite because I get to run through so many local run club cheer stations and see familiar faces along the way. It makes my heart happy.

Ventura Marathon
A lot has happened since my last full marathon.
I won’t bore you with the gory details. Here’s the only thing you need to know: I am going to run my fastest feasible pace for all 26.2 miles.

Big Bear (Half?) Marathon
Revel Big Bear Marathon is coming up fast. Will Shannon run the full or the half? Who knows?

🌹 Rose Bowl Half Recap🌹
Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Half is the official Half leading up to the LA Marathon. On January 22nd, I ran in this half. And, OBVIOUSLY, I set out for a PR and a sub-2, or 9:09/mile goal. Finished 2:01:05, which was a PR by 10+ minutes.
Afterthoughts about the race are as follows.

Hill Training Ahead
“Do it for the views...” Can I admit here that I’m a little less than stoked to be running Griffith Resolution in January, just as I blow out my birthday candles? I’m a little mad at myself for signing up for this punishing race again. It’s like giving myself a lump of coal for Christmas.

Marine Corps Marathon Recap
Marine Corps Marathon Sunday, 10.29. Stay tuned for race recap and finisher pics. 97% chance at least one photographer catches me with my tongue out. In setting up this site and choosing pictures to share, that was my big takeaway: I stick my tongue out A LOT.
